About Geoffrey Shute - Event Master

Geoffrey Shute started his career in the entertainment industry. During this time he learned valuable skills in the management of entertainment venues, the effective staging of live events and the logistics involved in all of these activities. He honed his skills working in Southern Africa and in the United Kingdom.

His previous company, Total Arts Management, was focused on the project management of live entertainment events and touring live events both across southern Africa and internationally. More and more he became involved in the provision of unique entertainment programmes for the corporate eventing industry.

His strong project management skills became sought after and he was called upon to manage entire events, either on behalf of events companies or by the corporate clients themselves. In 2002, soon after the launch of the third cellular operator Cell C, he was asked to join that company to manage their corporate events and brand-building activities across the country.

As a senior manager within the Corporate Communications Department, he set up an in-house eventing team which went on to manage in excess of 500 events for the company over the next four years. These activities spanned the full range of corporate events and included conferences, media briefings, product launches, internal communications events, CSI activities, marketing and brand activations, corporate sponsorships, stakeholder hospitality and the annual staff year end events with more than 3500 guests.

Having trained and up-skilled his team to the point of total competence in all of the above activities, he left Cell C in 2007 to start Eventmasters with a view to addressing the dire shortage of skilled project managers that exists across the eventing industry in South Africa today.
